Subject: [slinkelist] Minimum hardware requirements for CDJ/Slink-e?

I would love to do some cover exchange. It would be very easy for me to set
up a exchange app and scheme , however...
- What about cover copyright ? I guess it could be a back-up server ;-) and
when someone owns a CD there shouldn't be any issues right ?
- Someone needs to give me /us some server space, let's say about 500 Mb to
start with (FTP Server).
Anyone out there who can provide this ?
Thanks,
J.

I run mine on 133 mhz ibm thinkpad with 32 ram and 800 mb drive everything
runs fine.
I keep a browser open and can also run MS Word, outlook express email
without crashes.
I want to hook a cm11a x10 controller to the slinke and run a program
called active home. Is anyone using this combination and is there a good
source of information on how to set this up. Activehome is the free home
automatio software that is free at the x10 site. www.x10.com.
I have an extensive list of cd covers that are saved in the format
"sting - brand new day.jpg". I was wondering if anyone would like to
start exchanging cover art files, as this could save the users of this
feature a lot of time. I am waiting to see how big the entire folder is when
I am done.
.....only 200 of these suckers to go.
Good Luck,
Dale

I've been thinking of doing what others here have obviously been =
doing: have a dedicated PC or laptop for CDJ and Slink-e, rather than =
having it run on my "workstation" PC. I don't want to use overkill, so =
can anyone tell me what the minimum spec for such a beast might be? =
Processor, memory, Windows OS, etc? I looked on the Nirvis site for =
this info, and searched the slink-e list messages since 27/7/99 (too bad =
the digest includes submissions as attachments -- this makes it harder =
to search for text) but couldn't find it. And I didn't see any easy way =
to search the BBS archives.
Any advice that people have concerning this, in particular from their =
own experience, would be appreciated. Please cc emails to my account =
directly, so I don't miss them.
Cheers,
Ron
