Ok, last night I tried harder to get CD memos (and hopefully DVD memos too)
out of my new Sony DVD/CD/VCD changer (and into my reciever, the
STR-DA555ES).

I feel as though my hopes of success are diminishing each day :(

Question 1:
Has anyone succeeded in getting track titles out of the this thing (to
anywhere, computer, other remote, whatever)??  I'd like to know because if
data can be read from it, then there is a glimmer of hope...

Question 2:
I'm still confused, the receiver manual says that the A1 II control cable is
not supplied, and should be used to connect to a sony megastorage device.

Is an A1II control cable just an slink (monaural) cable?

Additional Info:
Finally, I wrote down specifically what the control jacks on the receiver
and changer say exactly.  Anyone have any idea if I have any hope of getting
data from the changer to my receiver, even if I have to put a computer (via
slink-e, I'll buy it in a second if it solves my problem!) in between?

Receiver (Sony STR-DA555ES):
1 port, labeled "Control A1II"

Changer (Sony DVP-CX850D)
 2 ports, 1 labeled "MEGACONTROL" and the other labeled "s-link control s

Anyone care to tell me why the audio industry SUCKS so much?  This just
should not be so damn difficult.  I just want tohook all of my components up
with only *1* (yes, ****ONE****) cable.  Like firewire.  I guess I have to
get that $2,000 DVD changer, eh?  A little pricey...
