I have a run of about 60-70 feet of CAT-5 with RJ-45(?) sockets at each end.
This was once used for conection of a remote PC to a HUB.
I want to use this "run of copper" for RS232 to the Slink-e (which happens
to be sitting a convienient distance from the remote RJ-45 jack).
I figure the length is OK, but am wondering what the best wiring scheme to
use is. Should I use a twisted pair each for ground+rxd and ground+txd?
Should I use a twisted pair for rxd+txd? Should I tie all unused pins to
ground?
I figure I'll make a couple small adapter cables that have RJ-45 on one end
and a male DB9 on the other.
any thoughts?
