I ran a test on exactly this point, and found that if you turn off the =
"poll status of idle changers" option you can turn of the changers and =
they will stay off until CDJ tries to use them again or you explicitly =
turn them back on. Or is there a software variance for Ohio users only?

as it is, CDJ won't let you turn off changers, it will turn them back =
on again.

The product identified below will switch between four digital inputs =
automatically, based on the presence of an optical signal, or based on =
priority if there is more than one optical signal present. =20

You can use this to switch digital out of CD changers hooked to CDJ, =
as long as you can tolerate (1) no pre-queuing of discs, (2) turning =
changers on and off as tracks alternate between players, and (3) no =
polling of idle players.
For this cheaper Toslink switch to work, CDJ must turn off all =
higher priority changers when playing from a given changer, so that the =
digital signal from the lowest priority changer is passed through the =
device. This can be done by setting up a CDJ map to turn off any higher =
priority changers (with cdxxx:power_off events) when there is a =
"using_player" event directed to a changer. The CDJ map must also =
respond to a using_player event for all but the lowest priority changer, =
by turning on the changer when there is a "using_player" event directed =
to that changer. You also have to turn off the CDJ option for =
pre-queuing discs, and turn off the CDJ option for polling the status of =
idle changers (so they don't get turned back on).
Hope somebody has interest in this option.
