The following is a partial text copy of Golden Hawk's FAQ web page
http://goldenhawk.com (NOTE the first part pertains to CD+G disc while the
last part pertains to CD-Text):
What CDROM devices support CD+G (Karaoke) discs?
To backup CD+G discs, you must have one of the following recorders...
Hewlett Packard 7500 / 8100 / 8200 / 9100 / 9200
Panasonic CW-7501
Plasmon CDR4240
Plextor PX-R412C (must have firmware version 1.07)
Plextor PX-R820T / PX-W4220T / PX-W8220T)
Sony CRX100E / CRX110E / CRX120E / CRX140E / CRX140S
Yamaha All Models
All of the above recorders (except the Yamaha CDR100/CDR102, CW-7501, and
CDR4240) are capable of both reading and writing CD+G discs. If you do not
have a model that can read CD+G, then you will have to purchase a separate
CDROM drive that has this capability.
The following CDROM drives are supported for reading CD+G discs...
Plextor 4Plex Plus
Plextor 8Plex (not recommended)
Plextor 12Plex
Plextor 12/20Plex
Plextor 14/32Plex
Sony 76S (not recommended)
Sony 415 (only works well at 1x reading speed)
What CDROM recorders support CD-TEXT discs?
The following recorders are supported for writing CD-TEXT discs...
Hewlett Packard 7500 / 8100 / 8200 / M820e / 9100 / 9200
Plextor 4220T (requires firmware 1.02 or higher)
Plextor 8220T
Ricoh 7040 (requires firmware 1.20 or higher)
Ricoh 7060 / 7080 / 8040 / 9060
Sony CRX100E / CRX110E / CRX120E / CRX140E / CRX140S
Teac CD-R56S / CD-R58S (requires firmware 1.0J or higher)

Don't just get any Plextor drive. Do check the specs for each drive on
their web site http://www.plextor.com . The drives that do support CD-text
tends to be more expensive too.

I'm running 4.02 of EZCD. I also had to apply a firmware upgrade (1.02) to
my
Plextor PX-W4220T. That's correct that the CD writer must support writing
CD-Text as well as the software. Unfortunately, that information is not
easy
to find out. It's typically not on the list of specs for a CD Drive. My
advise, get a Plextor drive.
Regarding Nero vs EZCD, I've never tried Nero, but have heard that it was
excellent. However, EZCD has given me no problems and does eveything I want
it
to do.
