[slinkelist] Networking CDJ

Carl,
I put PCAnywhere 9.0 onto Win2000 Professional (build 2128) with neither
install nor operational problems. Perhaps the problems you encountered
involved an interaction with other software besides Win2000. Needless to
say it would be nice if Microsoft finally figured out how to design an OS
that didn't make installing software the most dangerous thing a user could
do. I'd been hoping that the new driver signing and protected drivers would
prevent that, but your experience increases my unease.
Cheers,
Ron

Just don't try loading PC Anywhere ver 9.0 onto Windows 2000 - it won't work
and will screw it up to such an extent that a fresh install is required.
Don't ask me how I know - it is a very sore point. I have Anywhere version
9.1 now, which may be an improvement, but don't have the time right now to
do a reinstall if it fails ... so have not yet tried it. Instead I now have
an NT 4 box just to access client installations. Grrr!
Kind regards
Hermit

PC Anywhere (from Norton I think) works similarly. I use it at work to
control machines on different continents over the net. Seems to work well.
