There has been some talk here about using TV as PC monitor and about the
resolution, so here is some data.
"
Your television's resolution is limited by the video source. Your TV
monitor may be able to display 700 lines or more of horizontal
resolution, however when viewing VHS tapes the very best you will get is
240 lines (see the chart below).
The following resolutions (HORIZONTAL x VERTICAL) are all for NTSC (US)
and are the very best that can be expected out of that particular
format.
 HDTV: 1280x720 (Hi-Res 16:9)
 HDTV: 704x480 (Standard-Res 16:9)
 DVD: 540x480 (4:3) (progressive scan)
 ED-Beta: 525x482
 TVRO: 525x482 (Live Backhaul)
 Laser Disc: 425x482 (4:3)
 DVD: 405x480 (16:9) (progressive scan)
 S-VHS: 400x482
 Broadcast: 330x482
 CABLE: 330x482
 SUPER BETA: 285x482
 BETA: 250x482
 VHS: 240x482
 DBS: 364x240
"
a Clip from "How to adjust TV" by Anthony W. Haukap

So cheap tv only needs to perform at 330x482 and "Good" S-VHS tv might
be just 400x482.
So for pc use the law is otherway around "Your video source is limited
by the television's resolution."
