[slinkelist] Sony SLV-799HF VCR and SLink-E?

Hi all,

I have an SLink-E hooked up to my Sony CD changer and it's all working 
quite well.  I also have a Sony SLV-799HF VCR which has a Control-S 
port.  I realize that Control-S is not S-Link, however the Nirvis 
documentation is a little unclear on whether an SLink-E is supposed to talk 
to it or not (the info page for the SLink-E clearly implies Control-S 
capabilities).  However, when I plug a cable into it the LED goes reddish 
(I assume this is not good).  However, I can still talk with the CD player 
and make it do things.

So, is this supposed to work electrically and if it does has anyone written 
any software to control a VCR?
