It's getting late & I'm very tired, so I'll keep this brief! I recently
purchased a CX450, to go along with my CX57 player (50+1 CDs). I then =
learned
about the Slink-e & purchased one; I'm using it along with the free CDJ
software. I love it! CDJ calculates a CDDB ID from the CDs loaded into =
both my
CD players, quite accurately in my case; it then looks up the CDs in the=
CDDB
database. At this point it has album title, artist & track info stored =
in its
database. Some of this data can then be downloaded (uploaded?) to the CD
players! Currently, the data includes album title only; this is limited=
to 13
characters, not the 20 the CX450 can handle; artist info is not loaded.
However, CDJ shows all the data. So when controlling the players via =
CDJ, I
have all this info available for sorting, selecting (by many criteria, =
for both
albums & song title), etc.
My computer is probably about 10' from the CD player. However, the way I=
run
the cable under the floor, it is much longer than 10'; it's probably =
closer to
25'. This is a serial connection. It was suggested here than I use a =
CAT5
cable, with connectors on each end to convert from RJ45 to DB9; this is =
what I
did. It's worked flawlessly, once I corrected a minor error building the
connectors ... you have to assign wires to pins yourself. I forget the =
rules
for this, but I can dig them up.
I haven't used CD-Text, so I can't help you there.
I'm going to sleep now <g>!
