I've used ~20 feet of coax (RG6, I think) to extend the S-LINK from the
SLINK-E to the changer. All you need is the cable, connectors (the twist-on
F-connectors are fine,and don't require special tools), and a couple F-1/8"
phono adapters (Radio Shack sells the stuff, although they're not the
cheapest). That way, you can leave the SLINK-E near your computer, and use
relatively cheap coax, instead of a pricey(er) long serial cable.
When I first got my SLINK-E, I mentioned this to Colby, believe he said it
could be used for a much longer run.
