E-Z Learn should work for most remotes. The main limitation is that you
don't know what the carrier frequency of the remote is, so you'll either
have to guess or know a priori. The new version of E-Z Learn is also able to
break down the codes into the two way "IR" device file format provided you
can supply / import the timing information from another device file (e.g.
sonyir.cde for Sony).

I am working on a demonstration home that features the use of SLink-e. We
are starting to run into the need to acquire codes for CDE files for various
items (like DVDs for example).
Will Ezlearn work for most remotes?
What is the procedure for reverse engineering the return codes from a Sony
device?
Thanks
Drew
