Most remotes generate sufficient EMI to be easily detected by an AM radio.
Hold the remote against the antenna, tune up the dial from 550KHz and note
the distence in KHz between max amplitude points of the received noise.
This should be a fairly good first "a priori" guess, particularly if the
radio has digital tuning in less than 10 KHz steps.
