CD to MP3

I heard about a version of CDJ coming out that will allow you to copy CD/tracks to mp3. But in order for it to do that it would have to use the line out. Can you use a optical out and then go in through a digital input signal on the sound card, to make it a cleaner read. It would be nice to use that for a web based jukebox program using RealAudio.
In short, a Digital Optical out to digital in converter. or a Digital Optical out to Line In(RCA connectors.
