Sony Video 8 Control via Slink-e

Has anyone tried using the Slink-e to control a Sony Video 8 Camera? --specifically the Zooming features--. The model I have has an IR remote and since the slink-e can 'learn' commands from other remotes I'm sure it is capable of doing this...I'm just curious if anyone has tried it.
I ultimately need a way to do this via the web, and the slink-e looks like the best product for doing 2-way IR control.
